France’s second-largest city is wonderfully gritty with an ancient history – a port center since before 600 BC. We found Marseille to be the perfect mix of modern street art, ancient history, traditional French cuisine, and diverse foods from its large immigrant population. Aix-en-Provence is a town for wandering through cobblestone alleys, and the winding streets are perfect for getting lost in this bustling city. The cafe culture in Aix is impressive, and whether tucked away in small squares or along the expansive Cours Mirabeau boulevard, you’re never more than a few steps from a lovely cafe.
